Student-Educator Design Teams
During the 2018-19 school year, Front Range BOCES is partnering with Metro Denver middle and high schools to launch design teams among their students, teachers, and administrators. These school stakeholders are learning and practicing Human Centered Design/Design Thinking in order to:
Better understand student needs related to powerful and meaningful learning
Identify the kinds of experiences which are not currently meeting student needs
Collaboratively design strategies that effectively address them
Prototype, test, and pilot their strategies.
There is a need for more student voice and ideas in shaping and informing their own education experiences. In addition, there are often struggles associated with experimenting with new and inventive learning approaches. As a result, we often get stuck in more conventional ways of learning that restrict our students’ potential. By bringing educators and students together to jointly design and implement new approaches, we can re-imagine learning.
