Susan Sparks

Workshops & Cohorts

“I once received a compliment that I approach the word ‘NO’ as just an extension of a longer conversation, that obstacles are temporary, and that I work like anything is possible. I was proud of that.”—Susan Sparks

Helping others create a vision and see possibilities drives Susan Sparks’ work as a facilitator. She works with groups to see past challenges and to embrace their own wisdom. She believes that when people focus on an issue, their awareness of solutions expands – and their investment in that solution builds momentum for change.

With more than 35 years’ experience in education, from pre-K through university level and in settings from rural to urban, Susan Sparks understands the challenges and opportunities particular to education communities. She has also worked in many states and countries with visioning, problem-solving, and conflict resolution including establishing and sustaining professional learning communities. She currently facilitates negotiations in several districts using a consensus model and works with boards, teams and staffs to navigate conflict situations.

She is a proud grandparent to five children in New York City and Chicago, and she enjoys exploring new countries and cultures with her family. She has participated as a member of the Sixth Discipline women’s group, focused on professional growth and learning, for 27 years. During the pandemic, she taught art workshops to Pre-K children.
